Wal-Mart Challenges Amazon Prime With Shipping Pass

June 26, 2015

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. will launch Shipping Pass, a loyalty program that mimics Amazon.com’s Amazon Prime loyalty program. Almost half the cost of Amazon Prime, Wal-Mart’s Shipping Pass will offer members free three-day shipping for an annual fee of $50.

According to Forbes’ Proper Insight, 12.4% of polled U.S. adults responded that they were likely or very likely to sign up for Shipping Pass. About 45.7% of those who have shown a willingness to take up Shipping Pass are millennials.

Amazon Prime membership is $99 a year and offers free two-day shipping. The program covers 38 million of U.S. households.
