About Philip Sugar
As CEO, Mr. Sugar leads Smart Button Associates efforts to become the premier provider of loyalty systems for the retail, travel, sports, entertainment and leisure industries. In addition; Mr. Sugar oversees the strategic development and implementation of both sales and marketing functions for the company.

Since joining Smart Button in 1998, the firm has grown to supply loyalty marketing solutions to over 75% of the North American pari-mutuel venues, several Las Vegas casinos, professional sports teams, NCAA college athletics, retail establishments, restaurants and travel. Clients include KOA (Kampgrounds of America), the Oakland Raiders, Los Angeles Sparks, Arizona Diamondbacks, Churchill Downs, the Palms Casino Resort and George Mason University.

Philip has extensive start up and management experience with a variety of software companies that include EnviroMetrics, National Data Systems/ MDI and Essential Technologies. He also sits on the board of other emerging technology companies such as Return Central.

Prior to arriving at Smart Button, Philip served as the CFO of EnviroMetrics Corporation where he built a successful sales and marketing infrastructure which doubled and then tripled sales in 1994 and 1995. As the company grew (#125 on the Inc. 500), Mr. Sugar’s responsibilities shifted from sales and marketing to include finance and operations.

During his time at National Business Systems/MDI, Philip held the position of Director of Sales and Marketing. He was responsible for evaluating, managing and directing the bottom quintile of software companies owned by large software companies. Responsible for Medical Data, a publisher of medical equipment information and introduced a CD-ROM product that doubled sales for the group.

Mr. Sugar has been a featured speaker on the topic of loyalty marketing at several conferences including: the Customer Loyalty Summit, the National Sports Forum, INTIX, PACnet and the University of Kentucky Sports Marketing Academy. He has also been quoted as an expert source in publications such as CRM Magazine, DM News, Restaurant News and the
Sports Business Journal.

As a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania is Management and Technology Program, Mr. Sugar receives both a Bachelor Science in Economics from Wharton School of Business; and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering from the Moore School of Engineering.
